Description
1040 Bond Koat is a two-component, water-based epoxy primer with 40% solids content by volume. Formulated for excellent substrate wetting, penetration, and superior adhesion to properly prepared concrete, masonry, and many existing coatings. Provides a strong mechanical and chemical bond as a base layer for subsequent topcoats including epoxies, urethanes, polyureas, and polyaspartics. Key technical features:
- Low odor, low VOC (<20 g/L)
- Mix ratio: 1:1 (Part A : Part B) by volume
- Coverage: 200–300 sq ft per gallon (2–3 mils DFT)
- Pot life: 1–1.5 hours
- Recoat window: 4–6 hours
- Excellent chemical resistance (e.g., to toluene, ethanol, dilute acids)
- High gloss potential and abrasion resistance
- Easy cleanup with water
- Application temperature: 55–90°F, RH <75%
- Interior use only; professional application recommended
